A lovely end to a busy July

The weather held out for once, and we had a treat!

In an incredible turn of events for a July in Wales, we had beautiful sunshine this weekend – and it looks like it’s going to stick around for a while too! Brilliant!
What better way to end a busy July than with something new? For the first time this weekend Classic Soul Dogs had the opportunity to perform beneath beautiful “Tentipi’s”. They’re basically giant Nordic Tipi’s, and they’re incredible! Set on the family’s expansive private farm in West Wales, Freya and Nick’s wedding had a very relaxed and intimate atmosphere. Guests were seated on long wooden benches and the real ale flowed from a wooden, self-serve bar. In quasi-festival style, the majority of guests camped on site and stayed up until the early hours around fire pits, which illuminated the area in an ever-changing array of yellows and reds.

Classic Soul Dogs performed 2 x 1 hour sets and we enjoyed a full dance floor all night, no encouragement needed! Freya had arranged a surprise for her new husband and commissioned the band to perform “Use Somebody” by the King of Leon, with some (less than) subtle lyric alterations, since the bridesmaids were on one-knee worshipping at Nick’s feet I think we can call that a success. They also selected Michael Buble’s “Everything” as a first dance, it’s a beautiful tune and, by some coincidence, has been first dance for 3 out of 6 weddings in July – a very popular choice.

Our usual up-tempo party set went down a storm, we featured classics like Jonny B Goode, Soul Man, Not Unusual, RESPECT, Perfect, Sweetest feeling and Shake your Tail feather.

All in all, a great night! Thank you for booking us Freya and Nick, I hope you enjoyed your evening as much as we did! (And special thanks to John for sorting our drummer out with a hard floor!)
